ASQ-3 & ASQ:SE-2 Virtual Comprehensive Institutes

New to ASQ-3 or ASQ:SE-2?  Attend a virtual Comprehensive ASQ-3 & ASQ:SE-2 Institute from the comfort of your own home or office and learn everything you need to know how to use ASQ in your early childhood setting. Whether you are using Ages & Stages Questionnaires®, Third Edition (ASQ®-3), or Ages & Stages Questionnaires®: Social-Emotional, Second Edition (ASQ®:SE-2), this training is for you.

This 2-day interactive training, conducted via Zoom, will teach attendees:

  • An overview of screening and monitoring
  • The advantages of including parents in the screening process
  • Features of the ASQ-3 with ASQ Items Exercise
  • How to score and interpret the ASQ-3
  • Referral considerations and follow-up recommendations

For ASQ:SE-2

  • Why screening for social-emotional development is important
  • How to overcome challenges in assessing social-emotional development
  • A developmental organizational framework
  • Features of the ASQ:SE-2 with ASQ:SE-2 Items Exercise
  • How to score and interpret the ASQ:SE-2
  • Referral considerations and follow-up recommendations

Who should attend?

Beginner to intermediate ASQ® users who are new to the ASQ tools or need a refresher on the basics. All participants will receive valuable information to advance their skill level and knowledge of the tools and will leave the Institute ready to use the ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2 in their program.

Please Note: A maximum of 6 people from the same agency may register for this event. If your agency has more than 6 participants, please divide them across the available Institutes or contact seminars@brookespublishing.com to schedule a two-day ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2 Comprehensive Institute for your group.

Your registration fee will include a 2-day virtual training where participants will learn how to use the ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2 questionnaires in their program. You will receive handouts including practice forms, case studies, and training materials in the mail. Upon successful completion of the Institute, a certificate of attendance will be emailed to you.

If your agency has more than 6 participants, please divide them across the available Comprehensive Institutes or contact seminars@brookespublishing.com to schedule a comprehensive training for your group.

About the training

During the virtual Institute, you’ll receive video instruction from an ASQ expert and participate in interactive break-out sessions with other training participants. Brookes will provide you with practice forms, case studies, and handouts to support you during your training.

Upon your successful completion of the Institute, a certificate of attendance will be sent by email.

CEUs are now being offered for a fee through Loyola University Maryland–ASPIRE for participants who successfully complete the ASQ-3 & ASQ:SE-2 Comprehensive Institute. Please note that the cost of CEUs is the participant’s responsibility. Learn more.

Additional Info About Virtual Training

To successfully complete the virtual Training Institute, participants must attend all days at the designated times.

All participants must attend on their own device. All participants are expected to have a working camera and working microphone in order to participate in this training. Camera must be on during the entirety of the training in order to receive a certificate of completion. Brookes on Location reserves the right to dismiss participants who do not comply. No refunds will be given if a participant is removed.

Attendees must register through the appropriate web-based video conferencing system prior to the start of the first day of training.

Meet the Trainers

 

Jantina Clifford, Ph.D.

Jantina Clifford, Ph.D., is a member of the Ages & Stages International Research team and has been involved in developing and evaluating early childhood assessment measures for over 20 years. She has participated in the ongoing research and development of ASQ products and other measures, including the AEPS and SEAM. Dr. Clifford also provides training and technical assistance on using ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2 in diverse health, educational, and social service settings across the U.S. and internationally.

 

Jane Farrell, M.S.

Jane Farrell, M.S., retired after 25 years as a child development specialist who provided direct services to children 0-5 with delays and disabilities and their families. Her roles included developing specialized programming and providing consultation and community-wide training relating to early intervention and early childhood special education. She worked in both overseas military communities and Lane County, Oregon. For 30 years, she has contributed as a member of the ASQ training and development team, designing and conducting extensive training on ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2 with multi-disciplinary and culturally diverse programs and systems across the U.S. and Canada.

 

LaWanda Potter, M.S.

Jantina Clifford, Ph.D., is a member of the Ages & Stages International Research team and has been involved in developing and evaluating early childhood assessment measures for over 20 years. Elizabeth Twombly, M.S.

Elizabeth Twombly, M.S., is Senior Researcher and Instructor in the Early Intervention Program at the University of Oregon. For more than 20 years, Ms. Twombly has been involved in ASQ research projects, including renorming for the ASQ:SE-2 and the ASQ-3. She has conducted trainings on ASQ and ASQ:SE nationally and internationally, and has provided technical assistance to states on the development of early identification and referral systems for young children.

 

Sue Yockelson, Ph.D.

Sue Yockelson, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Special Education at Brandman University. Sue received her degree from the University of Oregon Early Intervention Program and has a background in education for typically and atypically developing children. She provides instruction on developmental screening of young children using ASQ.
