AEPS-3 Virtual Training Institutes

Make the most of the thoroughly updated AEPS-3 system

Attend our virtual AEPS®-3 Training Institute from the comfort of your own home or office—and learn everything you need to know about the new edition of Assessment, Evaluation, and Programming System for Infants and Children (AEPS®). You will explore how to use the AEPS-3 linked system to assess, set goals, plan teaching and intervention, monitor young children’s progress, and support participation and involvement with families. Each participant will receive a packet of training materials and a certificate of attendance upon successful completion of the seminar.

Provided via Zoom, this two-day training covers

  • the fundamentals of AEPS-3, including the system’s organization and the 8 developmental areas
  • best practices for test administration, including authentic assessment, virtual assessment, and group assessment
  • scoring of the assessment, including qualified scoring options new to the third edition
  • use of AEPS-3 for eligibility determination
  • development of IFSP and IEP goals using AEPS-3 data
  • linking AEPS-3 data with teaching and intervention using the new multi-tiered, activity-based curriculum
  • an introduction to the new Ready-Set measure for measuring school readiness
  • working with families throughout the assessment and intervention process

Who should attend?

Professionals working with young children (early interventionists, early childhood educators, home visitors, program administrators, therapists, speech-language pathologists, psychologists). This training is appropriate for participants familiar with the earlier edition of AEPS and participants new to the AEPS system.

About the training

During the virtual Institute, you’ll receive video instruction from AEPS-3 experts and participate in interactive break-out sessions with other training participants. You’ll complete hands-on activities and video exercises and receive practice forms and case studies.

Upon your successful completion of the Institute, a certificate of attendance will be sent.

Registration for this training will close two weeks prior to the training date. Registration may be closed prior to the cutoff date due to reaching maximum capacity.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Registration fees are nonrefundable. If you are unable to attend, you may send a substitute in your place or transfer to another training. All substitution and cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to seminars@brookespublishing.com no later than the registration deadline for this training. Substitution requests have a fee of $25.00, and transfer requests have a fee of $75.00. After the registration deadline has passed, we are unable to accept substitutions and/or transfers for this training.

Additional Info About Virtual Training

To successfully complete the virtual Training Institute, participants must attend both days at the designated times.

All participants must attend on their own device. All participants must have their cameras on during the training in order to receive a certificate of completion.

Meet the Trainers

Jennifer Grisham, Ed.D.

Jennifer Grisham, Ed.D. is a Professor Emeritus in the Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education program at the University of Kentucky. She taught there for 35 years and was Faculty Director of the UK Early Childhood Lab for 25 years. She taught courses in assessment and instructional design/implementation. Dr. Grisham was named a Teacher who Made a Difference on four separate occasions. Dr. Grisham is co-author of two books on blended practices in early childhood education (Blended Practices in Early Childhood Education (in press, 2017, 2005) and Blended Assessment Practices in Early Childhood Education (2022, 2011). As well, she co-authored a book entitled Reach for the Stars: Planning for the Future (2013), which is used to support families of young children to plan for their children’s future and articulate their priorities to educational team members. Dr. Grisham is sought after to provide professional development to state departments of education, universities, and local education agencies on several topics including authentic assessment, tiered instruction, and inclusion of children with disabilities in inclusive preschool settings. Dr. Grisham is President of the Early Intervention Management and Research Group, where she is part of a team of early intervention professionals from across the country who are responsible for the development and research of the Assessment, Evaluation, and Programming System (Bricker, et al. 2022), an early childhood assessment and curriculum that is used across the United States and in many other countries as a progress monitoring tool for young children birth to six. Dr. Grisham is co-founder of a children’s home and preschool program in Guatemala City called Hope for Tomorrow. Finally, Dr. Grisham also works internationally in other locations to promote inclusion of young children with disabilities.

 

JoAnn (JJ) Johnson, Ph.D.

JoAnn (JJ) Johnson, Ph.D., is Professor Emeritus in Child and Family Studies at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, where she provides professional development education in early childhood education, early intervention, and early childhood special education. Previously she served in various roles at the University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities in Louisiana, Oregon, and Nevada.
