This one-day workshop is designed for providers who work with toddlers and preschool-age children who exhibit challenging behavior. This process of PTR-YC builds on the concept of positive behavior support and the guiding principles of behavior. It is a comprehensive and robust workshop that helps participants to identify functions of behaviors, strategies to decrease problem behavior, and strategies to teach new appropriate behaviors. This effective process has a manual with definitions, tips for each step, and case studies that illustrate every component of the process. Participants will gain an understanding of shaping and teaching behavior, through the use of videos and case studies that allow for practice to apply the concepts to content during this interactive workshop.

Anchored in positive behavior support and the principles of applied behavior analysis, this workshop provides a systematic approach for developing effective behavior plans and strategies when problem behaviors persist over time and are not responsive to general guidance and support. This interactive workshop will provide rationale and forms ready for immediate use as well as a case study to work with and apply concepts.

Three 1-hour webinars on the topics: (1) short-term goals and developing data sheets; (2) functional behavior assessment and development of hypothesis statement; and (3) development of behavior plan, steps for implementation and fidelity checks.
Follow-Up Post-Seminar Onsite Visit – 1 day observation of classrooms, staff and students involved in the PTR/PTR-YC intervention with meeting time for follow up and discussion.
