Brookes Publishing’s Optimistic Parenting Book Named Among the Best in Family-Friendly Products from Mom’s Choice Awards®
Mom’s Choice Awards Gold recipient provides strategies for raising children with special needs
Baltimore, MD—The Mom’s Choice Awards has named Optimistic Parenting: Hope and Help for You and Your Challenging Child among the best in family-friendly media, products and services. This strategy-filled guide by top behavior expert V. Mark Durand was honored as a Gold Recipient in the Parenting – Special & Exceptional Needs category for books. The Mom’s Choice Awards (MCA) is an awards program that recognizes authors, inventors, companies, parents and others for their efforts in creating quality family-friendly media, products and services.
Parents, educators, librarians and retailers rely on MCA evaluations when selecting quality materials for children and families. The Mom’s Choice Awards seal helps families and educators navigate the vast array of products and services to make informed decisions. An esteemed panel of judges including education, media and other experts, as well as parents, children, librarians, performing artists, producers, medical and business professionals, authors, scientists and others help judge the products submitted.
A sampling of panel members includes: Dr. Twila C. Liggett, 10-time Emmy-winner, professor and founder of PBS’s Reading Rainbow; Julie Aigner-Clark, Creator of Baby Einstein and The Safe Side Project; Jodee Blanco, New York Times best-selling author, Priscilla Dunstan, creator of the Dunstan Baby Language; Patricia Rossi, host of NBC’s Manners Minute; Dr. Letitia S. Wright, D.C., host of the Wright Place™ TV Show; and Catherine Witcher, M.Ed., special needs expert and founder of Precision Education, Inc.
MCA judges are bound by a strict code of ethics which ensures expert and objective analysis free from any manufacturer association. The evaluation process uses a propriety methodology in which entries are scored on a number of elements including production quality, design, educational value, entertainment value, originality, appeal and cost.
“Parents of challenging children need tools and resources to help them navigate the waters of raising successful children. It is especially gratifying that this book—which focuses on both hope and help for parents of children with challenging behaviors—is being recognized with an award that emphasizes works that are inspirational and uplifting,” said V. Mark Durand, author of Optimistic Parenting. The guidebook serves as both a valuable resource for professionals and a lifeline for overwhelmed parents of children with a range of challenges and helps them learn how to break the cycle of negative thinking and improve family harmony with its practical tools and keen insight.
